Prefabricated Concrete houses in India
Prefabrication Process
Pre fabricated concrete houses in india are made by the process where finished or semi-finished structural components such as wall panel, doors, windows, roof trusses, cabinets, staircases and even entire building parts are built at production/factory site or building construction site
Most of the use prefabricated structural components with standard size unit. Prefabricated components are mainly made up of Steel, wood and Now RCC etc. In building sector prefabrication was developed and found most economical in less time. During War period or any emergency Prefabricated structures such as houses, hospital and so on are required with in less time and this type of construction is very useful.
This technology play a vital role in country development also
Adoption of Prefabrication
- To improve the quality in low cost
- To decrease the labour requirements.
- To increase the productivity of construction.
- To improve the construction speed.
- To develop the economy of our country.
- To enhance the proper uses of spaces.
- To provide better finish
Mainly to decrease in time, wages and material along with Project Cost
Method of Fabrication
There are 02 method as classified below.
1. Prefabrication in plant or in factory.- This is used when large scale production is required.
2. Prefabrication at site – This is used when large size production is required
Advantages
- This type of construction not needed so many machines and labour.
- Strength and stability of structures are improved.
- Easy to manage construction.
Eco friendly of structure
Disadvantages-
- If prefabrication is done in factory the transportation caost is high.
- Size and shape of components are limited
- Highly skilled labours is required.
- Resource consumption is high.
Site Prefabrication
Site fabrication is done at site or near the construction site . This process of prefabricated concrete houses in india is mainly adopted for the specific type of work and it is carried out in open space with loacally available labor. Equipment and machinery with moulds are used for this type of fabrication is movable nature for easy transportation. It is further classified in 02 types
- Semi – mechanize( work is carried out in open space with unskilled labors)
- Fully -mechanized ( Work is carred out under shed with skilled labors)of
Advantage-
- Transportation and packaging cost Iow as at site fabricatioin.
- No limitation of size and shape of structures
- Low silled labors are required for fabrication
- Resource consumption is low
Disadvantages
- Not suiable for adverse climate conditions
- Srength and stability of the structure is low
- Stacking is critical
- Not proper eco – friendly
Components of prefabrication
- Roofing and flooring
- Beams
- Columns
- Wall panels
- Joist
- Slab

FAQ
Most frequent questions and answers
Yes, this type of construction is most economical as less consumption of wages, Time and Money.
Prefabricated panels are constructed at one place. Hence quality can be maintained easily. Even curing is also done at same place , This is why quality control can be maintained.
Yes it can be done by partial prefabrication system.
It is the construction which is not done during construction but it is constructed before the start of the construction of project/building in advance in factory or at near at site.
No , foundation can not be constructed by this method.
It is a method of construction in which Time, Labor, Ultimately Money is saved with quality control and strength. Hence builders for flat /building maker are using this system to take advantage of money keeping the flat price same as market.
